MONOCHROMATIC KITCHENS: MONOTONOUS OR STYLISH?

Monochroma kitchen dark

Kitchens, like fashion, go through ever changing trends, particularly in the colour scheme used for cabinets, worktops, backsplashes and even appliances and accessories. And monochromatic kitchens are a good example.

Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in the popularity of monochrome palettes, especially for shades of black or white. Actually, black and white have always been popular finishes for monochromatic kitchens. And together they are probably the safest colour combination for any type of kitchen setting. However, in the last couple of years we have also seen an increase in the use of grey products. Moreover, we expect that demand for grey surfaces of all shades will continue being a key trend for 2019/20.

“We’re anticipating a rise in popularity of grey tones in the kitchen.”

These block colours can work to varying degrees. Whether it’s for entire cabinets, worktops or appliances. Or even just subtle hues coming through in various details and accents such as kitchen accessories.

Monochromatic Kitchen black

From small kitchen galleys to large, open-plan spaces, a monochrome design works. It is definitely the purest colour palette next to an all-white kitchen theme. Above all, it is the ideal choice for large kitchens, as it can totally blend in different areas with certain ease.

Did you know that monochromatic kitchens are just as reliably stylish in whatever period of home? In other words, this colour pallete is feasible for any kitchen, be it a modern, classic, industrial, or even shaker style design.

Be inspired with these stunning monochromatic kitchen design ideas and do try your own version of it:

And how about blue in monochromatic kitchens

By the way, another colour which is seeing a rise in popularity is blue in all its variations. For example, the black component in the ‘black and white combo’ can easily be substituted by blue. And actually it looks just as stunning as well as very modern too.

Have a look at the following examples where blue is used instead of black in these monochromatic kitchens.

Because monochromatic kitchens offer such a serene, clutter-free look, there is plenty of scope for injecting colour and personality throughout the rest of the room.
